By the end of 2001, nearly 37 000 organizations in 112 countries had their EMS certified as conforming to requirements of ISO 14001. SAC received its ISO 14000 certification in May of 2004.

 

​Suwannee American Cement’s Current Air Permit Includes:

  • Approval from EPA and Florida DEP that Best Available Control Technologies (BACT) were utilized, insuring the most technologically advanced pollution control equipment.
  • Implementation of Maximum Achievable Controllable Technologies (MACT) from DEP and EPA requiring SAC to have among the lowest emission limits in the country.
  • Requirements for SAC to continuously monitor emissions from its stacks with the latest technology.

Suwannee American Cement was designed with natural resources conservation as a principal factor.

  • SAC is a zero discharge water facility discharging no wastewater or stormwater.
  • All raw materials are stored in covered enclosures and all liquid fuel stored in double wall containers.
  • Kiln System designed for maximum energy efficiency and water conservation.

 

ISO 14001 is an Environmental Management System (EMS) recognized around the world which helps organizations to manage better the impact of their activities on the environment and to demonstrate sound environmental management.
